Last week I discussed three different types in technology that were introduced in my area of employment. One was the Gold Card, two was the Controlled Access ID card and three was the Smart board. Each of these is new and exciting in respect to what we were using before they were introduced. But I believe that the Smart Board made the most technological advancement. First introduced in 1991, this product is now available world wide in different languages. It has changed the educating and training procedures so much that it is becoming seconded nature to see this equipment in any facility.
First question: Identify and briefly describe your innovation, including its potential use and benefit to your industry. I will be investing the Smart board by Smart Board Technologies. What I think about the “Smart board” and why I believe that is the wave of the further. I was introduced to this equipment almost five years ago when it was first released. I was a military instructor and we switched from the overhead projector to the smart board. What an improvement, it was incredible how bright the colors were, and how easy it was to use. After becoming very comfortable with this new technology, it was time to revamp my lesson plans to utilize what I was given. When I taught my first class using the smart board, the students were ecstatic and wanted more. That smart board had the engaged and they were learning because they became part of the lesson. It allowed them it “draw” follow electrical diagrams with different color markers. If a mistake was made they would use the “eraser” and start over again.
Second question: Explain why you selected this innovation in comparison to the other two. The reason I choose this topic is because I believe that this will revolutionize the delivery and interaction of material in class. For the instructor, it will make their information exciting and encourage student participation. This equipment is ideal for lectures halls and classrooms because it can reach all students with a combination of technological innovation and in a traditional setting. If the instate is really advance, the smart board can be utilize with pod casts. For the student, it is attention getting and pulls them into the lesson to the point that don’t realize that they are learning. They have fun while learning
Third question: Support your selection with at least one diffusion study. Include an APA citation for your study. This equipment can be associated with the communication section from the Diffusion of Innovations book by Everett M. Rogers. The reason I believe this section relates to the new equipment is because of the way the instructor will communicate with the students. Thru visual and interaction stimulation learning will take place. This is another form of communication that stimulates the senses except smell, technology hasn’t gone that far. When students are stimulated, they retain more and it spreads amongst other students.
